George Coley, writer and director, wearing a black North Face jacket in an urban setting.

I've been enamoured with movies and games my entire life—just as fascinated by a director’s choice of lens as I was obsessed with the inner workings of a game’s physics engine. Both, in their own way, are tools for storytelling—methods of crafting an experience—which I find endlessly inspirational.

This fusion of art and technology has shaped me into the writer & director I am today—rooted in traditional filmmaking principles but driven by a passion for technological innovation. My choices in the scriptwriting process or directing on-set are informed by my expertise in VFX, CG, real-time engines, and virtual production.

To me, movies and games are the ultimate form of escapism—an opportunity to explore complex themes and grounded character drama in worlds and ways that defy reality. Safe to say, I’m not much of a ‘kitchen sink drama’ kind of guy—unless, of course, that kitchen sink is on a space station hurtling toward a black hole.

With a decade of directing experience—including 5 years in the games industry— I’m excited to be a filmmaker who blends a distinct creative vision with deep technical expertise, leveraging creative tools like LED volumes, motion capture, and Unreal Engine to craft the next generation of visual stories.

Whether leading principal photography or as second-unit director, I bring a strong creative vision, deep technical expertise, and extensive practical experience of TV, film, and commercial productions.
